15th Annual Workshop

It is our great pleasure to announce the "15th IEEE Photonics Society Benelux Annual Workshop" that will be held on June 15th, 2011 at the Faculty of Engineering of Mons University, Mons, Belgium. The scope of the workshop is very broad and covers the wide range of topics within the research field of photonics (a.o. sensing, semiconductor laser physics, optical communication, non-linear optics, ...).  This workshop is organized by the student chapter of the IEEE Photonics Society Benelux section and is oriented towards young researchers on a MSc and PhD level. On behalf of the members of the Organizing Committee, we would like to invite you to attend and/or contribute to this scientific and technical event.

This year’s workshop is honored by two invited talks.

First invited talk will be given by Dr. Sylvie Delepine-Lesoille from ANDRA who is working on the instrumentation of nuclear waste geological repository. Her talk will be on “The optical fiber sensors for structural health monitoring  to provide distributed temperature and strain measurements in concrete, metallic and soil structures”.

Second invited will be on “Microstructured fiber Bragg grating sensors: from fiber design to sensor implementation” given by Dr. Thomas Geernaert, from Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB).

To attend to the workshop, you have to register. This can be done by the following link: http://www.telecom.fpms.ac.be/IEEEPhotonicsWorkshop2011/index.aspx
